WAZ Award Requirements
WAZ (Worked All Zones) Award Rules
The Worked All Zones (WAZ) Award is issued by CQ Amateur Radio Magazine. It is widely considered one of the most difficult awards to achieve, requiring confirmations with all 40 CQ zones of the world.
Basic Rules
- Minimum Contacts: Contact and confirm stations in all 40 CQ zones.
- Proof of Contact: QSL cards must be submitted for checking, or checked digitally via integration with LoTW.
- Mobile/Portable: All contacts must be made from within the same CQ zone.
Award Categories
- Mixed WAZ: Generated using any combination of CW, SSB, and digital modes.
- Single-Band WAZ: Issued for making contacts on a single band. Highly sought-after single-band certificates include 80M, 40M, and 20M.
- 5-Band WAZ: The ultimate challenge, requiring up to 200 zone confirmations (40 zones on 5 bands: 80M, 40M, 20M, 15M, and 10M). The basic certificate starts at 150 zones.
